Chennai: Ajinkya Rahane, who is out of the Indian Test team due to poor form, has claimed a comeback in the Duleep Trophy by scoring a double century in the quarter-finals against NorthEast Zone while playing for West Zone. Apart from him, young batsman Yashasvi Jaiswal also tried to attract the attention of the selectors by scoring a double century. At the end of the second day’s play, West Zone scored 590 runs for the loss of two wickets in their first innings against Northeast Zone on the second day of the quarter-final match.

West Zone scored 474 runs in 98 overs on the second day.
Ajinkya Rahane and Jaiswal, who came to bat after Shaw’s dismissal, opened another marathon partnership. The duo put on 333 for the second wicket and scored runs against the northeast bowlers at will. Rongsen Jonathan caught Jaiswal’s innings at the hands of Bisworjit Konthojam. He hit 22 fours and three sixes in his innings of 321 balls. Rahane then took the innings forward with Tripathi. He also completed his double century during this period.
