Dhaka: The Bangladesh Cricket Board on Wednesday announced a 15-member Bangladesh squad for the T20 World Cup to be played in Australia in October-November. The team will be led by Shakib Al Hasan. But the board has not given a place to the former captain Mahmudullah in the team, taking a shocking decision. At the same time, Litton Das has been successful in making a comeback in the team for the World Cup.

Fallen after poor performance in Asia Cup
Wicket-keeper batsman Mushfiqur Rahim is also not included in the team after his poor performance in the recently concluded Asia Cup. Apart from Litton Das, Yasir Ali, Nurul Hasan, Hasan Mahmood and Najmul Hasan Shanto have got a place in the team. Parvez Hossain Emon, Anamul Haque, Mehdi Hassan, Mohammad Naeem have been discharged from the team. All of them were included in Bangladesh’s team for the Asia Cup 2022. But after the team’s embarrassing first round exit, all of them have come under fire. Shariful Islan, Rashid Hossain, Shah Mehdi Hassan and Soumya Sarkar have been named as reserve players in the team.

Mahmudullah was replaced due to poor form
Mahmudullah has been out of the team due to poor form. In the Asia Cup, he could score only 52 runs with a strikerate of 106.12. He has been able to score a total of 151 runs in 10 innings of international T20 matches played this year. The team selected for the world will also participate in the triangular T20 series to be played in New Zealand from 7 to 14 October. Pakistan will be the third team in this series.
