SRINAGAR// The presence of a bear and its cub in Jawahar Nagar, Rajbagh and Lal Mandi areas of Srinagar has spread fear and panic among the people. The bear injured a citizen in the attack. Wildlife Officer Rashid Naqash said that ‘local people reported that a bear and its cub were seen in the middle of the night in Jawaharnagar and its adjoining areas, after which the team was dispatched to the area.’ That measures are being taken to catch the bear and its cub, but so far it has not been found. On Sunday morning, 40-year-old Fayaz Ahmad Butt, a resident of Haba Kadal, who was posted as a watchman in a private school in Lal Mandi, was attacked by a bear. attacked him due to which he was seriously injured. It is learned that the injured person was shifted to Sadar Hospital Srinagar for treatment where his condition is said to be stable. After the presence of Rechni and her child in Jawahar Nagar and Rajbagh, police issued an advisory saying that people remained at home. They said in the advisory that Rechni and her child were seen in Rajbagh and its adjoining areas. In view of this, people are advised not to come out of their homes. The police have appealed to the public to contact the nearest police station immediately if the bear is spotted.
