Dusseldorf – Rostock 3: 1 |
Fortuna’s emergency elf conjures Hansa away
Magic instead of whining! Düsseldorf wins 3-1 against Hansa Rostock despite the XXL failure list.
Fortuna’s emergency squad: A total of eight players (including Captain Hoffmann and the top strikers Hennings and Ginczek) are missing. Ampomah, who was supposed to make his comeback after two years (!), had to withdraw at short notice – tendon injury in his thigh, another long break! Rostock with two changes: Ananou defends for the injured Malone, Thill replaces Hinterseer (bank) in the starting XI.
But the Fortuna not at all embarrassed, from the start on the trigger. And with an early and, above all, wonderful opening goal: Oberdorf with a long pass from the center line, Kownacki runs away from Ananou and takes the ball directly, lifting it from 16 meters into the left corner – fantastic (10th)!
A little later the chance to make it 2-0. After flipper actions in the Hansa defense, Tanaka shoots over it (17th). Sobottka does it better: After a throw-in 30 meters from the goal, he wins the ball against Thill, shakes it off easily, after a cheeky one-two with Kownacki, van Drongelen and Fröde get it, Sobottka can easily insert (28th). Another magic goal!
How does Rostock react? Not at all on the field. Tough on the coaching bench for it – Coach Härtel takes down Thill (lost nine of ten duels) before the half-time break (!), brings South Korean Lee (38th). Rostock’s only chance in the first round: a Verhoek header (45′).
Hansa switched to a back four during the break, Fröde moved into midfield, and Breier also came on for the pale Ingelsson. With the effect: After a Pröger cross, the advanced Fröde heads in, only 2:1 (61st).
Suddenly Rostock is in the game, pushing for an equaliser. But in the middle of this phase, Fortuna strikes for the third time: after van Drongelen’s misguided pass, things happen quickly – Tanaka serves substitute Iyoha, who tunnels Kolke, 3:1 (77th).
The last Hansa efforts fizzle out, Düsseldorf’s emergency occupation brings the three safely to the finish line. The Rhinelanders remain on top in fourth, Rostock slips down to 12th place after the third defeat in a row.
