Bath in the crowd with Meghan |
In Germany, Harry can be a real prince again
“Harry, Harry, Harry“ – the British prince has certainly not been received so warmly for a long time!
After a short pit stop in his homeland, where Prince Harry (37) and his wife, Duchess Meghan (41), are more of a hate figure since they turned their backs on the monarchy, the couple landed in Germany on Tuesday.
The Düsseldorfers had rolled out a 25-meter-long red carpet in front of the town hall for Harry and Meghan.
The Union Jack flag did not hang there because it is not a state visit for the two. The Duchess and Duke are in Germany to promote the next year’s Invictus Games – the Paralympic competitions for war veterans which are close to the Prince’s heart.
Harry and Meghan landed 15 minutes late at 1:23 p.m. with a German plane from Great Britain in Düsseldorf. The jet was provided by the Bundeswehr, which is co-organizing the 2023 competitions.
In a 340 hp Porsche Cayenne they drove up to the town hall at 1:50 p.m.
First, Prince Harry got out of the car, walked around the car to the other side – where Meghan got out of the Porsche in beige, wide trousers and a white, off-the-shoulder top. Harry wore a classic gray suit, skipping a tie.
After briefly waving at the hundreds of fans, who greeted the couple with shouts of “Harry, Harry” and “Meghan, you’re beautiful,” the couple posed in front of an installed Invictus Games screen.
And that’s where Loki put Prince Harry’s first big smile on his face. The Bundeswehr dog came accompanied by veteran Steffi Schenke, who suffers from PTSD (post-traumatic stress disorder) and has also been to the “Invictus Games” in Sydney.
Harry and Meghan then walked through the blue historic town hall door into the town hall, attended a reception there and signed the city’s golden book.
“Hello Düsseldorf, we are very happy to be here,” said Harry in German and caused cheers in the Jan-Wellem-Saal.
After almost an hour, the couple left the town hall and took a bath in the crowd of fans. And there, too, Harry got on the dog again, stroking several furry muzzles that his fans had with them.
At 8.30 p.m. Harry and Meghan want to take off again. After this short trip, the two Düsseldorf will certainly have good (animal) memories…
