Melbourne: Australia will miss the services of Mitchell Marsh, Mitchell Starc and Marcus Stoinis in India’s three-match T20I tour as the trio were ruled out of the series on Wednesday with injuries. Starc is suffering from a knee injury, while Marsh has an ankle problem and Stoinis has a back problem.
This decision has been taken in view of the World Cup 2022
According to ‘cricket.com.au’, these injuries are not that serious but Cricket Australia (CA) has decided not to risk the players keeping in mind the T20 World Cup which will be played on home soil next month. David Warner has already been rested on the tour, which will have a big impact on the Australian team.
These players have got a place in the team
The Australian selectors have included Nathan Ellis, Daniel Sams and Sean Abbott in place of Starc, Marsh and Stoinis. Marsh and Stoinis suffered injuries during the ODI series against Zimbabwe and New Zealand. But Starc was dropped from the team on Wednesday after a knee scan. Australia will play three T20 matches against hosts India on 20 September in Mohali, 23 September in Nagpur and 25 September in Hyderabad. After the India tour, Australia has to play T20 series against West Indies and England to prepare for the T20 World Cup.
