Only Charles and Anne lived to see their last breath
His eyes are downcast, the corners of his mouth turned down…
Prince Harry’s (37) face speaks volumes as his car pulls up at Balmoral Castle in Scotland. The Duke of Sussex only made it to his grandmother’s deathbed around 9 p.m. German time – an hour and a half after the palace announced the death of Queen Elizabeth II (96).
In the afternoon, Elizabeth’s dearly beloved grandson rushes by plane from London to Aberdeen to be with his family during this difficult hour. But Harry is too late.
He misses the moment when the Queen takes her last breath and his father becomes King Charles III at Balmoral. (73) will. Noisy “ Daily Mail” his brother William (40), his scandal uncle Andrew (62) and Prince Edward (58) arrived before Harry, but also too late to say goodbye personally.
Means: Only Charles and Princess Anne (72) accompanied the last minutes of the Queen.
At 7:30 p.m. German time (6:30 p.m. local time), the palace announced that Elizabeth passed away peacefully in the afternoon.
For Harry, his face shows, it’s a particularly bitter day. The prince and his wife Duchess Meghan (41) broke with the royal family – but he was always very close to his grandmother.
Actually, he should have given a speech tonight in London at the “WellChild Awards”, which honor children with disabilities and their carers every year. But when he found out around noon how bad things were with his grandmother, he dropped everything.
At least one consolation remains for Harry: at the beginning of June, the family, which was actually so divided, sat down at a table for Elizabeth’s throne anniversary. There the Queen was finally able to meet Lilibet (1), the daughter of her favorite grandson. Harry had given her the Queen’s family nickname. So Elizabeth remains part of the family even after her death.
