Mohali: The Indian team suffered a four-wicket defeat at the hands of Australia in the first T20 International on Sunday with 4 balls to spare. The Indian team batted first and scored 208 runs in the allotted 20 overs for the loss of 6 wickets. In reply, Australia chased down the target in 19.2 overs for the loss of 6 wickets. Team India’s captain was not happy with the bowling and fielding. Rohit said that the Indian team did not take advantage of the opportunities given in the field and the bowling was also poor.

Rohit Sharma said after the match, ‘I don’t think we bowled that well. A score of 200 is good enough to defend, but we didn’t take advantage of the opportunities we got on the field. India posted a massive total of 208 for six thanks to half-centuries from all-rounder Hardik Pandya (71 not out) and opener KL Rahul (55 runs) and Suryakumar Yadav (46 runs).

Rohit Sharma said, ‘I think we batted well. It was a good match for us to understand where we went wrong and what we can do better in the next match. Australia took a 1-0 lead in the series with Matthew Wade’s unbeaten 21-ball 45, followed by a half-century from Cameron Green (61).

At the same time, Australian captain Aaron Finch said, ‘It was a good match. Of course the dew helped us in the end. We have had some good partnerships. The players showed good aggression and tried to change the tone of the match which was very good. Cameron Green made 61 off 30 balls with eight fours and four sixes. He was adjudged ‘Player of the Match’.
