- Shaheen Afridi undergoing rehab in London
Karachi: Pakistan on Thursday announced a 15-man squad for the T20 World Cup. Fast bowler Shaheen Afridi has been out of action due to a knee injury in July but has been included in the World Cup squad. The 22-year-old pacer, who did not feature in the Asia Cup recently, will also be out of the seven-match T20I series against England. However, he is expected to be fit till the T20 World Cup. Shaheen Afridi is currently undergoing a rehab program in London.
Afridi was with the Pakistan team in the recently concluded Asia Cup and was cheering the team by sitting in the stands. He then went to London and continued his rehab process. Former Pakistan captain Shahid Afridi has revealed that the left-arm pacer is paying all his expenses in London to make a speedy recovery and is not getting any help from the Pakistan Cricket Board.
Sharing information about the whole scenario, Afridi said, ‘When I talk about Shaheen Afridi, he is bearing his own expenses. He is investing his money to stay in the hotel. I arranged a doctor for him, then he contacted the doctor. PCB did nothing, it is doing it all on its own. From doctors to hotel rooms and food, he is paying himself. As far as I know, Zakir Khan spoke to him once or twice and that’s it. Khan is currently the PCB’s Director of Cricket for international tours.
