- 318 players will be bidding on September 19
318 cricketers have been included in the first CA20 players auction to be held in Cape Town on 19 September. More than 500 players had registered their interest for the auction. The list was reduced to 318 after submission of shortlists from six franchises. The auction will take place at the Cape Town International Convention Centre, with teams facing each other to bid on some of the best local and international T20 players to complete their squads.
Notably, a total of 22 players in the list have been pre-signed by the franchises and the teams will spend their remaining Rs 3.4 million salary budget during the auction.
CA20 League Commissioner Graeme Smith said, “We are thrilled with the interest we have received from the cricket community to be a part of CA20. The final list of players is an exciting mix of international stars, a range of Proteas players and up-and-coming talent that will be on the global stage. Looking forward to making your name.”
“We are looking forward to the auction and see how the team builds up for this exciting first season of CA20,” he added. Other countries represented include Australia, West Indies, England, New Zealand, Sri Lanka, Zimbabwe, Scotland, Afghanistan, Ireland, Hong Kong, USA, Netherlands and Namibia.
