Mohali: The Australian team has given Tim David a debut in the first T20 International against India on Tuesday. Matthew Wade handed over the T20 International debut cap to Tim David at the PCA Stadium in Mohali. Tim David became the 103rd cricketer to represent Australia in T20 International cricket. Fans were eagerly waiting for Tim David’s debut as he is known for his aggressive batting.
26-year-old Tim David has previously played for the Singapore national team. He has become the second player, after Dirk Nannes, to represent Australia after playing for another State. David has scored 558 runs in 14 T20 Internationals for Singapore with the help of 4 half-centuries. Tim David was included in the T20 World Cup squad to be held in October-November this year by the Australian cricket team even before his T20 International debut.
Tim David has also rocked the IPL. The player of 6 feet 5 inches height has played a total of 9 matches in IPL so far and has scored 187 runs in it. He has not been able to score a half-century in IPL. However, for some time now, Tim David has made headlines because he has been the batsman with the most sixes this year.
In the year 2022, Tim David has scored 79 sixes in 54 innings. In this case, Rovman Powell of West Indies is in second place, who has scored 74 sixes in 36 innings. England’s Liam Livingstone is third with 66 sixes in 39 innings. England’s experienced all-rounder Moeen Ali is fourth in this list with 64 sixes in 43 innings. Fans will expect Tim David to do wonders against India with his off-break first and then make his debut by hitting long sixes in the batting.
