Former India captain Mohammad Azharuddin has expressed displeasure after not seeing the names of these two players in the main team.

Shrikant also expressed displeasure

Not only Azhar, former India captain and former chief selector Krishnamachari Srikkanth has also expressed surprise over Shami not being in the main team. Talking to Star Sports, Srikanth said, “Mohammed Shami should have been in the team. Are you planning to play in Australia? Shami can bounce the ball well in Australia. His action is high arm. He can take the ball out to the left-hander. Can bring the ball inside for a right-handed batsman. He can take two-three wickets in the first three overs.

The selectors have given preference to youthful enthusiasm over Shami’s experience. Harshal Patel and Arshdeep Singh have been selected in the team. Both have made a place in Team India by showing a strong game in IPL. Although Arshdeep Singh made his T20 debut in July this year, he impressed a lot with his bowling in the death overs and he managed to make it to the team. He has played only 11 T20 matches for Team India so far. At the same time, Harshal has played 17 T20 matches and Shami has also played the same number of T20 matches.
