Mumbai: Fast bowler Umesh Yadav has been included in the Indian team for the three-match T20 International series against Australia. Umesh Yadav has been included as a replacement for Mohammed Shami, who has been ruled out of the series after being found COVID-19 positive. The BCCI gave this information by tweeting on Sunday. The first match of the three T20 International series between India and Australia will be played at the PCA Stadium in Mohali on Tuesday.

Shami’s exit proved to be a major setback for the Indian team, which is trying to find its best combination for the T20 World Cup. Shami was not selected in the T20 World Cup squad, but he is included in the reserve players. India were hoping to test Shami’s style against world champions Australia. However, this is not possible at this time.

Meanwhile, the BCCI has confirmed that India A pacer Navdeep Saini has been ruled out of the ongoing Duleep Trophy and the ODI series against New Zealand A. “Navdeep Saini suffered a right groin injury on the first day of the Duleep Trophy semi-final match between North Zone and South Zone,” BCCI said in its press release. Due to this, he has been ruled out of the current tournament and the upcoming three ODI series against New Zealand A. Saini will now go to the NCA and get his injury rehab. Rishi Dhawan has been included in his place.
